“UNCLE Vanya”
Production & Distribution: K-zone | 5 min | Color | 16:9 | 2K | Stereo
Synopsis:
Decades after the canceled play “The Forgery: Lord of the Forest,” an actress (Mayu Tsuruta) opens an old mimeographed script and recalls the past. Playing a cassette tape, the voice of a young woman (Maika Hara) is heard reading lines:
“…Uncle Vanya, let us live. Day after endless day. Night after night, unsure when it will open again, let us live through it…”
She recalls reading lines alone in an empty theater after the cancellation. The beautiful words from Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya gently bridge past and present.
